Oxley Zoo. East lake was founded in 1902.

Originally, East Lake was the home of Oxley Zoo, Chattanooga’s first zoo. Now, the neighborhood is a thriving community of diverse residents.
Guests can expect a variety of musical performances, vendors, food and more. Performers include Heatherly, Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences choir, Jazzanooga Youth, Jamal Traub, Josh Driver and DLPB, Opera Tennessee, Joy Devlin and her Divine Jazz, and more.
Gladys Pineda-Lohr will serve as master of ceremonies for the event. Art 120 will offer art bike rides around the circle of East Lake Park’s pond.
For the first time in years, the park’s concession stand will be open, serving hot dogs and other refreshments. Proceeds from concession sales will benefit the East Lake Community Center.
The inaugural festival in 2015 spawned from a series of “driveway concerts” hosted by local musician and East Lake resident Buddy Shirk. He often hosted world-class traveling musicians during these concerts, and as the crowds outgrew his driveway, the idea of a neighborhood music festival was born.
Vendors are still sought for the event. Crafters can set up for a $20 fee. Organizations are invited to set up a display booth to share information.
Community resource organizations will be on-site to answer questions about a variety of services.
About 400 people attended last year’s festival. More details are expected to be announced soon.
