"The simple truth is, I love to sing."

The power of music is my inspiration.

Anyone who knows me would say I am a passionate advocate for keeping music alive in your life - no matter what.

I've been singing since before I could walk. Growing up I was surrounded by music and a variety of instruments. Classical music, essentially, was the soundtrack to my childhood, and helped to develop my natural ear. Later, I studied the piano and violin for several years. Throughout high school I participated in eleven different courses of musical discipline. I was soloist in a variety of vocal groups, and performed in four instrumental groups, playing percussion, hand bells, and violin. In 1996 I traveled to Egypt and Jordan with the hand bell choir by invitation of Queen Noor.

Music composition is a natural thought to me, and I've been writing lyrics for years. In my early twenties I began composing. At about this same time, I was inspired to teach myself to play the bass guitar. I was the bassist for a band in Minneapolis, and helped to write bass for many of their songs. In 2005 I organized the band and sang with the Gold Tones, who were hired to play before all the Golden Gopher Football games at the Minneapolis Metrodome. For the better part of 2006 I hosted a weekly artist's showcase & open mic at Jitter's Bar & Cafe, managing and booking an increasing network of performance and visual artists. From 2006 to 2007 I sang with a theatrical troupe and live band throughout the Twin Cities at clubs, festivals and private events.

Though I've had the opportunity to sing and play with a multitude of talented musicians, it has been an honor and a privilege to work with my dear friend, Scott Dercks, an extraordinary guitarist and remarkable musician. We performed together as a jazz duo from 2004 to 2008 in all of the hottest Minneapolis jazz venues, and countless private events. Thank you, Scott, for your mentorship.

I now live in Chattanooga, TN, and enjoy singing jazz locally.
